Three greens, two gaps—how hard could it be? Well. This turned out to be one of the most nerve-wracking games I’ve had all week. The letters kept falling, and not a single new green or yellow was in sight. I finally got there on the very last go, but I’m still not sure how I managed to win at today’s Wordle.

UK government responds to Stop Killing Games petition, and it’s not good- ‘There is no requirement in UK law’ that forces companies to support old software-

The UK government has issued a response to a petition filed by the Stop Killing Games campaign, and it’s probably not what organizers were hoping to hear. The Department of Culture, Media and Sport said videogame companies must comply with existing consumer laws, but also noted that there is no law compelling them to support older versions of their products.

Stop Killing Games came together earlier this year, catalyzed by Ubisoft’s decision to end online support for The Crew, rendering the 10-year-old racing game unplayable because of its online requirements. Founder Ross Scott is hoping that pressure from gamers will convince governments to impose laws requiring game makers to ensure games are left in a playable state when online support is ended, very generally by removing any d…

There’s no Wordle fear quite as intense as seeing two perfectly sensible guesses come up blank, bar a single and not especially helpful green. Warframe developer axes publishing division, will ‘transition full control’ of online action RPG Wayfinder to its developer-

At last year’s Game Awards, Warframe maker Digital Extremes revealed that it was publishing Wayfinder, an online action game from Airship Syndicate which released in early access this August. Today, PC Gamer has learned that Digital Extremes is now closing its publishing wing and handing control of Wayfinder over to Airship Syndicate.

“We can confirm we have made the difficult decision to cease operations of our external projects division,” a Digital Extremes rep told PC Gamer in an email today. “We have had to say goodbye to a number of hardworking and highly valuable team members as a result and we’re working with Airship to transition full control of Wayfinder to them in the coming months.”

Digital Extremes declined to elaborate on the specific number of layoffs.

Warzone 2’s wiping DMZ progress and players don’t quite know how to feel about it-

Call of Duty is trying out something new with DMZ, and the reaction is all over the place. It’s a server wipe of faction tiers (i.e. completed missions) and players’ inventories, which is fairly common in this style of RPG-lite shooter but new to Call of Duty.

The official announcement kind of buries this under the news that new missions will be arriving in season two and optimistically calls the wipe “a refresh of your current Faction mission progress and an inventory (Contraband and Keys) reset.” This comes alongside a major rebalancing of the mode’s AI and an acknowledgement that the difficulty curve of the faction missions “was too aggressive for many players” and is being smoothed-out.

But it’s the progress wipe that’s caught the attention. There is nothing to st…

Want to know what to do with your Diablo 4 legendary gear- Turn on this optional setting immediately-

I’m at the point in my Diablo 4 levelling journey where legendary gear is starting to drop more frequently. And as exciting as it is to see some orange loot pop out from a chest, it also comes with a deep anxiety. I only have a few of these pieces right now, and I want to make sure I’m using them in the most efficient way possible. Are these boots actually good? Should I be extracting the aspect they contain? Or is it more useful to break them down for materials?

Luckily, it turns out, there’s a setting buried in Diablo 4’s option menu that helps make that decision far easier. I discovered a mention of it in the comments of an unrelated thread in the Diablo 4 subreddit, and more than a few people in the replies were also delighted to learn that it exist…

Oh that was frustrating. I found two incredibly awkward greens on my first guess, and they ended up throwing my whole thought process out of balance rather than helping me find the answer. I made a game’s worth of feeble attempts to fit letters around them, but it didn’t work out for me. Still, tomorrow’s another Wordle day.

You might have missed it but 3DMark was 25 years old last week-

Last Thursday, UL Solutions celebrated the 25th birthday of 3DMark, the evergreen game graphics benchmarking tool. Since the early days of DirectX 6, there’s been a version of the tool, showing off the latest graphics features and technology, and although it’s not quite as ubiquitous as it was, you can’t deny that two-and-a-half decades is an impressive run for a piece of software.

If you’ve never used 3DMark before, it’s an application that runs a sequence of real-time graphics on your PC, using the recorded frame rates to give your system an overall score. The idea is that more points mean better for gaming, and you can upload your result and check against other PCs with the same hardware.

The version that started it all off, called 3DMark99 (even though it was released in…
