In FY24, the mutual fund industry surpassed the Rs 50 lakh crore mark in assets under management. The net AUM of the industry grew by 35.5% to Rs 53.4 lakh crore in FY24.
The net inflow in the mutual fund industry reached Rs 3.55 lakh crore, an increase of 4.6 times compared to Rs 76,225 crore in the previous year.

The total number of folios increased by almost 22% to 17.79 crore in March 2024 from 14.57 crore in the same period a year ago.
The bigger picture here is that the total number of folios in the mutual fund industry surged almost twice compared to five years back due to increased interest and awareness among retail investors. It was 8.97 crore in March 2020, according to ICRA.
